Charlotte, Cerys and I are fundraising in aid of Steve's Team, encouraging lifelong participation in sport in memory of Steve Rayner.

Steve was a keen and brilliant sportsman, for whom the opportunity to play squash, rugby, tennis, golf, to box and even to run a marathon, kept him out of trouble when he was younger and later, provided a counter balance to a busy working life. Sport brought Steve opportunities and friendships and was a route to physical fitness and good mental health. When Steve died in 2018 we were determined to honour his memory by recognising how lucky Steve was to have found his way into sport - he didn't come from the kind of background of sports clubs or lessons.

Steve's Team works in a wide range of sports to try to level the playing field, to promote "life through sport".

We work with organisations that encourage young people to stay involved in sport through traditional "drop out zones" like when they change schools, go to college or university, or transition from academic to working life.
