Community Sailing Program
Donation protected
The Town community sailing instruction program that launched in 1998 and ran through 2021 served over 800 juniors and adults annually and employed 25 to 30 local high school and college students each season. In late fall 2021, the former operator of the program announced that they would not be continuing the program. Knowing the importance of this program to the Greenwich community, we recently formed a non-profit company, Greenwich Sailing School, Inc. (status pending IRS approval), that will operate under the name Tod’s Point Sailing School to serve the community. John Kantor and Bill King have a lot of prior experience with operating sailing instruction programs and are working diligently as volunteers to have the new program up and running in time for the 2022 summer sailing season.
The startup costs of a program like this are quite high and include website development, insurance, marketing, and most of all, acquiring the sailing fleet and safety chase boats. To avoid supply chain delays, we need to place orders with deposits as quickly as possible to ensure delivery for the 2022 season. Donations received will go towards securing the fleet for timely delivery, website development, insurance and other start-up related costs.
