Gabe Hernandez's Healing Journey

Hello everyone! My name is Jill Burnette and my son, Jaxson, attends Lindale High School in Lindale, Texas. His best friend, Gabe Hernandez, was involved in a car accident on December 30th, 2024.

Gabe is the happiest young man I know. He’s goofy and always has a smile on his face. Gabe loves going to the gym with his buddies and spending time gaming. I have faith that in time, Gabe will get back to doing everything he loves. While he’s hard at work with the best care team working with him, we can help behind the scenes.

Dear friends of ours and my family are raising funds for Gabe and his family for his medical journey. We all can imagine what it would be like in his parent’s position. This has affected work life, pets, hours and hours of driving and medical bills to say the least. Thank you for all your love and support!

Recently, Gabe was moved to rehab (in the same hospital) to start working more on his speech, physical and occupational therapy. They have slowly started introducing solid foods and he has started speaking some!! My son and a group of his and Gabe's friends went to see him yesterday!! His smile and contagious laugh once again fill the room. He loves to joke and make light of the moment. He is scheduled for skull reconstructive surgery in mid February. I will continue to update as I get news!!
