Hygiene is not a luxury!
Can you imagine using a dirty rag instead of a pad? We can't.
Periods are hard enough with the proper supplies. Yet, 1 in 4 women struggle to purchase period products, and 1 in 5 low-income women report missing important events because of lack of access to period supplies. The absence of these required supplies can lead women to be at risk for infections, the abandonment of school, and poor mental health.
This brings us to our community period project! As a community, we must take action against this inhumane struggle; this is a basic human need! We will be supplying "period kits" to homeless shelters with the necessary hygienic products and the instructions regarding their use. This is not only a female issue but a worldwide one. Together we can stop the harm and indignity of inadequate care. Let's say no to dirty rags or newspapers, and yes to dignity.
All money will be used towards products such as Ziploc bags, pads, tampons, wet wipes, instructions, and handwritten notes! We plan to donate this all to Chicago based female shelter Deborah's Place.
If you live in Chicago and want to donate period products, contact us!
Please donate! Anything helps!
