Dealing with brutal dysphoria and rejection, Talia has worked for years to accept and honor her trans identity. She has found ways to give herself permission to let the woman she is out into a ~scary~ world. This has taken years of processing fears, planning for coming outs, and navigating confusions. Now, Talia is moving forward gender-affirming surgery as an essential part of her journey. This surgery is a step towards being able to explore clothing that fits her, connect to her own confidence, and release the daily pain of dysphoria.
Talia needs support in being able to afford the insurance co-pays, time off work, medical supplies, food, and any additional medical complication fees. In this time of increasing attacks on trans life, this is a call to show up for Talia through gender-affirming surgery support. Talia is an indispensable member of the Triangle queer/trans community. She has built affirming spaces through queer sports teams as well as consistently shown up for friends' own gender journeys. Talia provides a loving presence (truly like none other) to friends and community day in-day out.
Your financial contribution will sustain:
- Insurance co-pay of nearly $4,000
- Medical supplies
- Medical complication expenses / anesthesia fees
- Unpaid time off work due to recovery
- Food and groceries
If you are unable to support financially, we will be creating a sign-up document for a meal train, visitation times during Talia's hospital stay, and visits during Talia's recovery at home. Stay posted for this doc!
Note: Please ignore GFM's prompt to donate more money to the company itself -- there is no need!
