We recently learned that Bronx Yoga Lab is facing some challenges, and we want to support them. This GoFundMe was created to help raise funds for ongoing recovery needs so Bronx Yoga Lab can continue welcoming and serving the community.

In just six weeks, the studio experienced multiple sprinkler head malfunctions, creating unexpected challenges and expenses. This student-led fundraiser brings our yoga community together to support a space that means so much to all of us.

Bronx Yoga Lab is a women- and Black-owned small business that survived the long COVID-19 shutdown, when yoga studios were among the last businesses allowed to reopen and many studios across the city closed their doors. Through perseverance, the studio was able to welcome us back.

Kerry Donegan and Dionne Presinal, founders of Bronx Yoga Lab, live and work in our community and have built a space that supports movement, healing, and connection for so many.

Nearly seven years ago, on October 4, Selma and I went on our first date at Bronx Yoga Lab. Since that day, we’ve built a life together centered around friends, family, health, and community. Bronx Yoga Lab has remained a vital part of that journey.

Through BYL, we’ve met incredible people who have become close friends. We regularly attend classes as a family—our daughter is now a member too—and the studio has helped us nurture our mental, emotional, and physical well-being through its many classes.

Now let’s talk about community. As some of you may already know, Selma and I co-organize Friendly Fridge BX, a community food hub dedicated to rescuing and redistributing healthy food so people can take what they need, no questions asked.

From the very beginning, Friendly Fridge BX has been powered by volunteers and community partners who believe in this mission. One of those incredible partners is Bronx Yoga Lab and its team. Over the holiday season, BYL even hosted a fundraiser to help purchase a much-needed industrial refrigerator for rescued foods. Our gratitude is truly overflowing.

Now it’s our turn to support the space that has supported so many of us.
