Bob Hiltunen needs our help right now.

For those who may not know him, Bob is one of those special people who leaves a lasting impression on everyone he meets. He is well known throughout our community for his incredible musical talent and his love of sharing it with others—especially the students at Barkell Elementary. Beyond his gift for music, Bob is simply an amazing person whose kindness, warmth, and positive spirit brighten the lives of so many.

Bob has had health struggles in the past and now he is facing another unexpected battle. Bob recently posted the following on Facebook.

"Ok folks here we go: I have been in the hospital for several weeks now. It started back in June at the ER in UP HEALTH SYSTEMS PORTAGE, Where while investigating excruciating pain they detected “spots and lesions” in my bones and in my liver tissues I was transported to st Vincent hospital for a few weeks and underwent extensive testing where I was diagnosed with esophageal cancer which has metastasized into other body organs including liver and bones I have been transferred from Green Bay to Ann Arbor as they have been successfully repairing the type of fracture in my hip and accepted me as a candidate for the procedure . They have successfully repaired the main fracture in my hip and now I’m grateful to have been accepted further radiation treatments in the mass in my hip and in other places. Once this is all done and I am cleared for travel I will be coming home and starting chemotherapy The only thing I need right now is rest and privacy. I love everyone and I’m grateful for your support, but I just need time to process this mentally and not answer a billion questions. Thank you for being you. I love you."

As Bob focuses on his recovery, we'd like to help ease some of the financial burdens that come with an unexpected hospitalization and recovery process. Any donation will make a meaningful difference and allow Bob to focus on healing.
