Over the 2020 February reading week, our team of 7 Carleton University students and 2 faculty members headed to Aldea Aquil Grande, Guatemala, for Alternative Spring Break. During our community-engaged learning experience, we assisted in the construction of a school kitchen and dining room, while learning about the effects of poverty and malnutrition on education.
Unfortunately, the project has not yet been completed due to a lack of volunteers, weather-related setbacks, and insufficient funding. With your support, we can raise enough money for the community to complete the kitchen and dining room in order to provide a clean, safe, and comfortable space for the children and community members to cook and eat.
Our goal is to continue supporting the community in whatever ways possible. After speaking with our ground partner in Aquil Grande, he has expressed many concerns over the additional $4,000 CAD required to complete the project.
Any size donation is very much appreciated. Please also feel free to share this link with friends and family members!
Thanks again,
Team ASB 2020- Aquil Grande
