My name is Ashley and I want to tell you a story about a kiddo from our community that needs our help.
I found out about him in the Fall of 2025 when a friend of mine accepted a maternity leave teaching position at a local high school. And this kid left an impression on her. Why?
Because his mother abandoned him earlier in 2025 when her boyfriend was deported. This American mother left her 17 year old American son here to fend for himself. No money. No support. He was working almost 40 hours a week to make ends meet while also being dual enrolled in high school as a junior AND a senior so he can graduate and get a job to survive. His father lives in Texas and has been an inconsistent presence in his life the last 6 years or so.
He stood out to her because with ALLLLL this he was going through, he still came to school everyday. He came to school in clean clothes. He was clean. He was hungry, but he was there. And he has the most positive and happy personality. Against all odds and his entire circumstance, he just radiates joy.
As she shared his story with me, I felt that tug that only comes from the Holy Spirit that commanded that I help him. While initially my help was anonymous, we eventually connected in real life and he has become a precious member of our family.
Unfortuantley, we are not a RICH family and this kid needs some help. He needs a car so he can get to and from work. He needs help getting housing. He currently lives with an amazing couple that he previously worked with who took him in when his housing became even more insecure so he wouldn’t have to couch jump.
This is a kid who has survived off the kindness of strangers and I am asking for my friends and family, most of whom are still strangers to him, to help him get the fresh start in life so he can get to and from work. To and from school. So he can breathe a little.
Anything helps. $5 helps. Resources help. If you have an apartment over your garage that you want to rent or a cheap car that you’ve been wanting to sell and can give him a good price…it all helps. Thank you for considering this kid who has become very precious to me and my family.
