Faith— This is what has kept Anselmo going since he was diagnosed with oral cancer just 3 weeks ago.
Anselmo noticed he had what appeared to be a canker sore, but I'm sure you can imagine the shock when he was told what he had wasn't a canker sore but a cancer lesion!
Unfortunately, for Anselmo, this occurred right as he had begun working for a new job—a job he has only been at for 6 months now.
Since this diagnosis, Anselmo still manages to get up, put on a mask, and go to work, often working through excruciating pain in his right cheek where the cancer lesion is! However, he does this with a smile and remains grateful for every day he has on this earth and hopes for many more!
Anselmo does not qualify for disability and his insurance covers only 60% of his treatment/oral surgery at the Levine Cancer Institute. Unfortunately, he is simply unable to manage the other 40% of his medical costs, even with his efforts to continue working.
So really, community—we—are his last hope and the longer he goes without treatment, the higher the likelihood of it spreading.
So I ask you all—please, please help with anything you can, no donation is too small, no prayer too short, no thought too insignificant.
Let’s show Anselmo he is not keeping his faith in vain and get him the treatment he needs as soon as we can!
