Isabella Joy Hamdeed, born at 27 weeks and 2 days, weighing 1 pound 6 ounces at Tufts Medical Center in Boston. Most of us were excited to find out we were having a little baby girl, expanding our family, aside from her older brothers who were hoping for a boy. Expected to be an August baby like her father, we had plans and visions of how this pregnancy would unfold. What we did not expect was the curveball that was thrown at us when at 24 weeks a serious pain developed in my belly. After being admitted to lowell general and having numerous tests run, we received the scary news, there was a placental abruption, a separation of the placenta with bleeding behind it that was putting the baby in danger. With a dozen nurses and doctors telling us we might have to deliver that day and sharing with us the scary statistics and possibilities for our and Isabella's futures we made the decision to transfer over to Tufts. Being in Boston and so far away from my sons was difficult. After my diagnosis of pre-eclampsia it was set in stone, I would not be leaving the hospital until Isabella arrived. At 27 weeks and 2 days the continuous Non Stress Tests they conducted 3 times a day detected that Isabella needed to come out. While we were happy she was able to get a few more weeks inside, maturing, we were still terrified about her being so far away from her 40 week full term date. Aaron rushed over from work and they prepared me for the C Section. During the procedure there was a moment of relief when we both heard the high pitched cry coming from behind the curtain, Isabella was here. That was when the real journey began. Being so premature, Isabella will be in the hospital until she reaches her full term date. She requires 24/7 care and montoring. It has been rough seeing her hooked up to many machines and dealing with the fact that I am home without her. In order to see her, spend time with her, and bond with her Aaron and I must commute to the city as often as we can. This has proven to be a challenge with long travel times, high gas prices and parking rates. As well as other expenses that occur. Any and all help is much appreciated and will help ease our stresses to allow us to focus on Isabella's health and growth over the next few month's.
