Community Health Workers Needed in Kibera, Kenya

Donation protected
My name is Nancy and I am a volunteer for Wayo Wayo Kibra (WWK), a community organization in Kibera, Nairobi, Kenya. I worked in Nairobi as a Stanford University Seed business coach and met WWK through their founder, Abdul Hussein.

The Community Health Worker (CHW) role is critical in the providing of health services in very poor communities like the Kibera slum because there is a severe lack of physicians, nurses, and other health professionals. This will ensure that basic health care is available and accessible to all, even the very poor while creating self-reliant healthcare-trained residents. But donations are necessary to pay their monthly stipend and to train additional Community Health Workers.

Wayo Wayo Kibra provides humanitarian and social services for Kibera Slum residents who are living in the largest urban slum in Africa. Close to one million residents live in extreme poverty, earning less than $1.00 per day. A great majority living in the slum lack access to basic services, including electricity, clean running water, sanitation, high school education, and medical care. WWK is supported solely by donations and volunteer contributions.

Most of the Kibra residents were hurt economically by the COVID pandemic. Jobs outside of the slum disappeared and so went their livelihoods. Already poor people became desperate. Families became vulnerable to attacks within Kibera. Girls and women became targets of predators.

I hope you will contribute to the support and on-going work of Wayo Wayo Kibra, an all-volunteer organization.

Help us reach our goal of training 100 new Community Health Workers in the Kibera Slum.
No donation is too small!

All of us at Wayo Wayo Kibra thank you for your generosity.

$30 will cover one month stipend for each worker
$60 gives an entire family 12 months of access to government hospitals and clinics.
$100 will cover the cost of training and certifying one Community Health Worker
