My name is Raena Otero. i am the mother and caretaker of my son, 23, Rich AKA Coogi. Coog was in a motor vehicle accident, 2023, and suffered a severe tramatic brain injury. His brain was sheared, brain stem was dislodged, which cut off oxygen to his brain. If you know what shaken baby syndrome is, it is compared to that. He was just coming home from the gym, 1 minute away from our house. He has balance issues, so walking has to be with a walker, he uses a wheel chair and his hands are not connected to his brain yet! he has a lot of spasity. When Coog wants to do something he can only do one thing at a time, due to brain injury!

He was in a coma for 2 months, actually never to awake and live out his life in a vegitated state. Well, we know God showed up. august 28, 2023 he woke up in Penn State hospital and remembered us all!

Coog is now recovering. He is the strongest, most dedicated person i know. He is motivated to get better, be independent. Being his mom, he is never left out of experiences. Sky diving, water parks, beach, new york city. nothing.

This summer, we would like to get Coog out and bike, but how? We’ll leave it up to me, I found a sit down bike for mobility issues. I purchase so much for my sons recovery, this i need the communities help with. It is pricey, but i believe us a community can raise the money to get Coog this gift. He can go to the river, trails and open his eyes to exciting excersice. Thank you and I appreciate your support through this journey!!!!!!
