For over 30 years, Cheapo Depo (9206 E Admiral Place) has been a cornerstone of Tulsa, built on heart and second chances by its founder, Donald Kerr. Now, this treasured local business faces a financial storm, and we have a powerful opportunity—not just to save it, but to show our profound appreciation for the man who gave it a bold new life.
When Rob Lawley took the helm, he made a promise to honor Don's legacy. But in the past five years, he did much more. Rob worked hard for us. He invested everything to transform the store, building refrigeration and freezers to bring us fresh, affordable produce, meat, and eggs—turning a dry goods depot into a vital, modern grocery lifeline. These improvements came at great personal cost and risk, all to serve our community better.
Now, an overwhelming state tax bill from honest clerical errors has forced those doors closed. This is our once-in-a-good-while chance to have Rob's back.
Rob has secured a path to reopen: if we raise $11,054 to cover 25% of the bill, the state will lift the closure order.
Our Primary Goal: Raise $11,054. This is our community's direct investment to reopen the doors Rob improved for us.
Let's build powerful momentum for a full recovery. Every dollar beyond our goal pays down more of the remaining tax bill. The more we raise, the sooner everything gets back to the way we, the shoppers, love it. A clean slate means Rob can immediately redirect all his energy from crisis management back to his genius: hunting down incredible deals and stocking the shelves with the low-cost essentials our families depend on.
Think of what you save here every month. Contributing now is an investment in your own budget's future and a tangible "thank you" for half a decade of dedication.
Every dollar raised goes directly to the Oklahoma Tax Commission to pay this debt and secure Cheapo Depo's future.
We are asking you—if Rob's improvements have put fresher food on your table or stretched your paycheck—to join us. Let's show our appreciation in the most meaningful way possible. Let's reopen our store and give Rob the clear path forward he deserves.
Donate now and share this campaign. Let's turn this challenge into our community's finest hour.
With gratitude,
Nathan Shrewsbury & Alan Maricle
