An exciting inline skating video competition featuring the best skaters, nominated by you!
Last time was a huge success. We got 5 incredible videos, overwhelming positive feedback from the skaters' and audience, reaching over 1.9 millions views across social media.
The skaters and filmers directly benefited from the fund as the culture did from the videos - the core of inline skating.
The Community Cup directly impacted the whole year beyond the competition itself, givings us Edit of the Year finalists, Trick of the Year finalist and feeding into Skate of the Year.
As a community we made it happen - Let's do it again.
The Concept
Our community voted best skaters submit a new, exclusive video parts, with one dropping daily for up to 12 days! The edits will be judged by both the public and a panel of industry experts. Every skater who submits a video receives a base rate, and there will be additional prizes for:
- Community Vote: 1st, 2nd, 3rd
- Expert Panel Winner
Prize Fund
The skaters’ fund (base rate + prizes) will be raised through community donations. Meaning every contribution directly increases what the skaters receive.
- 50% of the total fund will be split equally between all participating skaters as a guaranteed base rate.
- 50% will be used for prizes.
These percentages are fixed — but the total amount isn’t.
There’s no cap on what can be raised, which means there’s no limit to the skaters and filmers base rate or what they can win.
The more we come together as a community, the bigger the fund becomes and potentially the more the skater are motivated. This is something we’re building collectively — and its value is entirely in our hands.
We want these videos to be free so the whole community and beyond can enjoy them. Making the content accessible to everyone increases exposure, pushing the culture forward and bringing people in, not just for this project, but for everyone involved and skating on the whole.
The reality is, there isn’t much money in skating and we want to reward the skater and filmers so grassroots support is a great way make this happen.
Donations are completely optional, with a minimum of £5, which I believe it's an accessible way to be part of something bigger. Any size contribution helps build the prize fund, directly supports the skaters, and adds real value to what they’re doing and your vote.
Voting
Community Winners (1st / 2nd / 3rd)
Determined by public voting on LocoSkates
Expert Winner
A panel of judges will independently rank each skater based on overall impression using the following considerations:
Difficulty: can be applied to a stunt, line or a single technical trick. Clips will also be judged on the overall situation including; size, run-up, landing, weather, traffic, etc.
Style: Competitors will be judged on style, confidence, control & speed.
Creativity: This can be applied to switch-ups, clever use of spots, new ideas etc.
Spot selection: Submissions will be judged on the variety, type, difficulty and visual appearance of obstacles.
Production value: Production value includes the filming, audio, music, lighting and editing of the video.
Character / overall entertainment: Character combines all of the above elements and evaluates the submission on overall entertainment.
These aren’t strict categories to score individually, but elements that help guide the judges’ rankings.
There will also be consideration for self-progression — whether a skater is pushing their skating and presenting something new compared to previous output.
