The CommUnity Arts Collective is proud to be producing a production of a new, student-written play, Baba Yaga, this spring.
Baba Yaga is about college student, Kim, who after his Bubbe’s death, invites his Jewish boyfriend to Yom Kippur to please his mourning mom. The problem is his boyfriend isn’t Jewish. Or his boyfriend.
From our Director: "Practicing Judaism in today’s climate isn’t easy. Perhaps that's why we want to tell Baba Yaga now. While the story touches on the antisemitism of the Holocaust and Occupy Wall Street, the story mainly focuses on the comedy of an American, Jewish family. The play provides levity to subjects like generational trauma. As Jewish artists, we’re interested in reminding audiences that we’re here. We exist. We matter."
As an entirely student-run organization, every donation counts towards making this production a possibility and bringing it to its greatest potential. Donations go towards helping us cover space for putting this play on, designing it, and all other logistics. We greatly appreciate anything you are able to provide.
