Community and Employee Fund

Story

Supporting local Communities and Employees during the Covid-19 PandemicAt Onçafari we have been heavily impacted by the new Coronavirus. Tourism, which is responsible for about half of our annual income, has completely shut down.Even with no guests, our team continues to scout and monitor the Jaguars to ensure that the habituation process which we succeeded in implementing with over 8 years of work is not lost with the sudden  absence of tour vehicles. Ensuring we can sustain the essence of the project with field operations has become a daily quest. Despite the adverse circumstances we are working hard not only to keep our team on regular payroll but also trying to support the local community in securing hygiene standards and other basic needs. Most family members from the locals employed by our team, as well as those living at Caiman Ecological Refuge, live in the adjacent communities and due to the lack of resources can be heavily impacted by this virus, which in turn can again compromise our efforts and take valuable lives in such remote locations, distant from good medical support. We need your help to get through this difficult moment and not loose what we have conquered with the Jaguars.  Cash is crucial to secure minimal activities and ensure hygiene levels are high to mitigate the spreading of the Virus to us humans and even wild species too. Join us in making a difference! Any donation will help make an impact. We thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause, which is transforming the sustainability model of both wild animals and remote communities, who profit from our work in search of conservation.Sustentare is Onçafari’s not for profit organization in America. Supporting local Communities and Employees during the Covid-19 Pandemic

At Onçafari we have been heavily impacted by the new Coronavirus. Tourism, which is responsible for about half of our annual income, has completely shut down.

Even with no guests, our team continues to scout and monitor the Jaguars to ensure that the habituation process which we succeeded in implementing with over 8 years of work is not lost with the sudden  absence of tour vehicles. Ensuring we can sustain the essence of the project with field operations has become a daily quest.

Despite the adverse circumstances we are working hard not only to keep our team on regular payroll but also trying to support the local community in securing hygiene standards and other basic needs.
