Community Aid for a Brooklyn Mom and Writer

As one of the 600,000 Black women who have lost their jobs recently, including those like me who have lost work within the media and publishing space, for the first time in over six years, I'm unable to pay my rent this month and most likely next month as well.

I've been battling the unemployment office for the last 2 months, sending paperwork and waiting for things to be processed and approved. Currently, due to circumstances outside of my control, I'm simply waiting, all the while growing deeper and deeper into debt.

I've shared and contributed to dozens and dozens of GFM and mutual aid campaigns over the past decade because I believe that when the weight becomes too heavy, it's our community that should save us. But, as a Black woman raised by independent Black women, posting my own campaign was not an easy choice. I'm working through generations of trauma just to utter the words, "I need support." However, I need your support.

Help by donating any amount or simply sharing my campaign. Every effort is greatly appreciated.

Please note that my ultimate goal for this campaign is $10K, so GFM will continue to adjust the displayed goal as donations come in.
