A few stagehands and their cat, out of work due to covid, trying to build a life around literature. All of our proceeds are shared with activist centers and groups like Books To Prisoners, or Food Not Bombs. In a few months we'll get a business license worked out, most likely as a nonprofit but maybe a plain old LLC.
Sinead has spent years practicing repair and printing of books, and studying public domain and publishing laws. She also has a certification to teach ESL, but no computer to do it with. Phynix is more inclined to the real world, with a mechanical hand and green thumb.
Eventually, we intend to move into a brick and mortar storefront. But for now, we're driving up to a summer job in the Outer Banks and planning to spend a few seasons selling and printing books on the road. We still need to set up the printing office, but we do have experience in printing both hardcover and softcover. The plan is to mostly print public domain classics in pretty, sturdy, handmade hardcover, and seek out new, underexposed artists. First, until we can afford the laptop and printer, we'll just be reselling used books for cheap, around the US.
Our first major expense was the RV, and that took nearly everything we had. Now we need to fix it up. Our second expense is an unexpected thousand dollar lien, which has to be paid in cash, and originated from a boat that was stolen from us half a year ago.
We'll make it through this! This is the beginning of a beautiful future! But some support would really help to get us through this valley. Blessed be.
