Commend Christopher Martin for his Bravery
Donation protected
Christopher Martin, a brave young man, who testified during the trial for George Floyd's killing. His testimony was heartbreaking and brought me to tears. As a mother myself, it really struck a cord with me. No child and young adult should have to go through the stress and tragedy that Christopher Martin has endured.
Martin was a crucial person during the case and feels at fault for George Floyd's death. He was the clerk at Cup Foods who received the counterfeit $20 bill. He stated that Cup Foods protocol for counterfeit money, was that whoever accepted the counterfeit money, would have to pay out of their own pocket to make up for the lost funds. He even felt that he should just pay the $20 and move on from the situation. As a 19 year old, he was put in a tricky situation that escalated quickly and it was very much out of his control. And he was also a witness to a person being killed by the hand of someone who should provide a safe space. Christopher Martin did not return to working at Cup Foods because he did not feel safe.
This money is to commend his bravery and for him to spend in anyway he would like. I spoke with Christopher on the phone and he said he would like to use some of the money to help the local community. Please help Christopher pay it forward.
