Commemorative Bench In Memory of Carol Murphy

The outpouring of love and support for our mum over these past few months has been incredible. It was these heartfelt energies that gave us the strength to get through the seemingly endless hurdles we faced since her diagnosis in February 2021. Though mum’s battle was short, her fight was inspiring, and has provided us with a powerful final chapter in Carol Murphy’s awe-inspiring life story.

Now that her human experience has reached its end, we want to honour our mum in a way that she expressed she would like to be commemorated - a park bench. Going on walks and being in nature was a cornerstone of her life, and creating a physical, tangible, and permanent memorial in nature feels like the most appropriate way to remember this amazing woman. In times of grief an influx of flowers and food is inevitable, and these gestures filled our hearts (and bellies) when we needed it most. In lieu of these supportive actions we would like to suggest a donation toward Carol’s commemorative bench.

We are so grateful to our friends and family in this tumultuous time, and can feel the love you have for our mum and for us. Your support has been unfathomable, and we look forward to sharing the special memorial with you all. Should we surpass the amount needed for the bench, the additional funds will go toward the celebration of life (decorations, catering, etc.) to create a space that she would love and toward a donation to Dying with Dignity (https://www.dyingwithdignity.ca/give_today).
