It is clear Matt was much more loved and had many more friends than any one of us sitting within his circle realized. Since his passing, so many of you have expressed your heartfelt condolences and offered up help to the Strumpfs as they navigate through the toughest time in their lives. As a friend, on their behalf, I want to thank you all for your love and support for Matt, Jessica and Sebastian.

We have set up this page in an attempt to organize the all the offers for gifts, and give everyone a place to send in your token of support and love. In lieu of flowers or other gifts to the family, we'd like you to consider contributing toward a commemorative bench to be dedicated in Matt's honor at the Great Meadow Park at Fort Mason in San Francisco. Matt loved this park with its quintessential San Francisco energy and gorgeous views of the Bay and the Golden Gate Bridge. Matt and Jessica started their lives together in an apartment across the street from this park, walked Dude, their Dalmatian, there everyday and spent many sunny Sunday afternoons enjoying music, games and an occasional wine or beer with friends (ok, maybe more than a few beers or wine!). Needless to say this was the place of many happy memories for Matt and we'd like to create a special spot where friends and family living in or traveling through San Francisco can come, sit and remember the fun-loving, life-embracing, and kindhearted human being that Matt was. Our hope is one day, Sebastian will grow up and get to experience the place that meant so much to Matt and feel like he got to know his dad just a little better.
