JP is more than just a colleague—he’s a friend, a mentor, and an integral part of our team. He’s always the first to help, share a laugh, or step up when someone needs support. Now, JP and his family are facing an incredibly difficult challenge, and we want to come together as a team and community to help him through this.

Here is JP’s story in his own words:

"My mother was hospitalized on June 20 due to severe abdominal pain. A CT scan revealed a lump in her intestine, which had to be surgically removed. A biopsy later confirmed that it was a malignant tumor. Doctors performed a PET scan and other tests to check for cancer elsewhere and determine the type. She was diagnosed with B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma and was advised to undergo chemotherapy.

We were shocked by the hospital bill when she was discharged—it reached 850,000 pesos (≈ $15,300 USD). Our HMO coverage was maxed out, and while we received some government medical assistance, it only covered part of the cost, so I had to borrow money to pay the rest.

She is advised to undergo a minimum of 4 cycles of chemotherapy, followed by a PET scan to determine if further treatment is necessary. Currently, government assistance only covers the medication (Rituximab) for 2 cycles, meaning we still need to fund the remaining two cycles. Hospital fees in Manila are also a significant expense.

At this point, we still need around 200,000–250,000 pesos (≈ $3,600–4,500 USD), depending on how she responds to treatment.

Asking for help is difficult for me, but right now, we truly need support. Any contribution, no matter the size, would mean the world to our family—and help give my mother the care she needs. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being part of this journey with us."

We wanted to share a quick note for clarity. Since GoFundMe doesn’t currently support direct withdrawals to the Philippines, we’ve set up our colleague Lynn, who is based in the US and regularly works with contacts in the Philippines, as the official beneficiary.

This simply allows the funds to be withdrawn in the US and then securely transferred on to JP and his family in the Philippines. Please rest assured that 100% of all donations are going directly to JP’s family to cover his mother’s medical expenses.
