Our beloved friend and sister Sonia Malfa was diagnosed with uterine cancer in July. In August she underwent a major surgery: a full hysterectomy. We're grateful to share good news: the cancer was caught early, and the surgery successfully removed it.

Sonia is a brilliant, fiercely independent freelance director. The surgery came with some complications, and her doctors have her on strict bedrest, so she'll be out of work while she recovers. As a freelancer, there's little to no safety net to carry her through a gap like this: no work means no income, and rent, groceries, and medical bills don't pause for recovery.

Our love for Sonia runs deep. Friends have flown in from all over the world to support and rally around her, taking shifts to clean the apartment, manage the household, and cook fresh meals. Right now, our main goal is to make sure she can focus entirely on healing without the added weight of financial stress.
