My husband Chris and I are overwhelmed by the love and words of support we have received from friends near and far, old and new. We are also in shock. Our home and our neighborhood no longer exist. The future we were planning is no longer an option. We don’t even know what tomorrow will be like. Thus, when friends offer us help, we don’t know how to respond. Reluctantly, we have set up a GoFundMe -- primarily to direct all of these generous offers of assistance and touching messages to one place. We deeply appreciate the texts, emails, messengers, and WhatsApps, but it is also extremely challenging to stay on top of all of the communications right now. Although we can’t fathom our future needs, after the ash settles, we will have a clearer view and can determine the best use of this generosity -- whether for ourselves or for friends who have suffered similar loss. Our future is unknown, but with your love, prayers, and good thoughts, we know we will get through this challenging period both stronger and with the precious possession of a loving community of friends.
