Hello, my name is Allison Caves, and I am starting this GoFundMe campaign not for myself, but to assist a dear woman who may have impacted your life too. If you were a child (like me) growing up in NE Wisconsin during the 1980s & 90s and were enrolled in the Marinette School District in Marinette, WI, then you might have been a student of Ms. Mary Meyer. Mary taught physical education classes for over 30 years, and she was passionate about seeing the best outcome for her students.

Today, Mary is the one in need. In the early morning hours on 01/29/2026, life changed for Ms. Meyer when a fire broke out at her home located on Shore Drive, in the Township of Peshtigo. While we are incredibly grateful that she and her two beloved basset hounds (Jimmy John & Rosie) made it out safely, the fire and water damage to her home and the irreplaceable memories are extensive. As Mary navigates the "insurance world" and finds a temporary place to stay, which includes lodging for her dogs, her immediate costs and replacement of daily essentials are rising.
