Hello. My name is Adina Gross, and I am putting this together to raise money for Kate and Alexander Marechal. Kate, my sister Jessica, and I have been very close friends since elementary school.

Over a week ago, Alexander came down with an upset stomach. Kate took him to the pediatrician Monday morning, who sent her to the local ER, who sent her to the ER in Wilmington, who put Alexander and Kate in an ambulance headed to the Pediatric Hospital at UNC Chapel Hill.

The medical staff determined that Alexander had contracted a certain strand of E. Coli and as a result was in total kidney failure. Currently, Alexander is receiving continuous dialysis due to renal failure from hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS). He has a chest tube, is intubated and in a medically induced coma. There are many medical details, but the big picture is we are all supporting them in any way we can. It is expected they will be in Durham for quite some time. While in Durham, Kate is not working and therefore not getting paid.

While we would love to help solve everything, perhaps this can take some worry off her mind while she is fully present for Alexander.

Whatever is contributed is going straight to Kate and Alexander.
