For decades, my mother gave everything to this country. She sacrificed her own comfort and roots to build a life in Chicago, ensuring I had every opportunity possible. Now, as she navigates the challenges of dementia, it’s my turn to sacrifice for her.
Life in America has become a cycle of "living to work," leaving me with little time to provide the care she deserves. Between a horrendous job market and a difficult wrongful termination legal battle, the "American Dream" has felt more like a struggle for survival—especially as we face the rising weight of being Hispanic in an increasingly tense environment. Living in fear isn't a life; it’s an obstacle to healing.
Why Mexico?
We are making the move to Mexico to reclaim our quality of life and prioritize my mom's well-being. This move will allow us to:
• Access Specialized Care: Secure better medical attention tailored to her dementia.
• Secure Senior Benefits: Ensure she has the financial and social support she earned.
• Reconnect with Family: Surround her with the love and community that is vital for her health.
• Find Peace: Trade the constant grind for a life where family comes first.
How You Can Help
Right now, donations are our primary lifeline as I look for short-term work and navigate our transition. Your support will go directly toward moving expenses, medical deposits, and basic necessities to get us settled safely.
Ways to Donate:
