Zeus has been in my life for 8 amazing years - I genuinely believe we were meant to find each other. When we met he was a parvo survivor. Over the years he has developed a number of allergies and other health issues, but his sweet disposition and loving personality has never changed. Recently it was confirmed that he is in the beginning stages of doggie dementia, and he now has cancerous masses on his face/snout. After discussing options with the vet, it seems the best choice to make for my road dog is to help him cross the rainbow bridge as peacefully as possible.
I knew this was coming, but really hoped I had more time to save up money. Ideally I would like to be able to help him cross over at home where he is comfortable, as going to the vet’s office is extremely stressful for him. I have checked around with several companies that offer this service, and the amount that I am hoping to raise would be enough to cover the home euthanasia, memento service (cremated remains and a paw print returned to me), and the amount I currently owe the vet.
If I exceed this goal, any additional funds will be donated to rescue organizations in the area, because without amazing rescue workers we wouldn’t have found each other.
I genuinely believe that if Zeus hadn’t come into my life when he did, I wouldn’t still be here. He gave me a sense of purpose that I was seriously missing. He was my primary motivation to get sober. He saved my life - the least I can do is make sure that his can end peacefully and in a comfortable space.
