As many of you know, our beloved co-worker and City of Gaithersburg family member Jonathon “Jonny” Burgess lost his life in a tragic accident on May 7th, 2025. If you ever met Jonny, you knew he was a hard worker, a devoted father and partner, and someone who was truly cherished by his co-workers, friends, peers, and family.

Jonny was a key team member at the Department of Public Works and the Activity Center. He had a gift for brightening any room—always ready with a smile and always willing to lend a helping hand. His absence is deeply felt by all of us who were fortunate enough to know him.

We are raising funds to help ease the financial burden of holiday expenses, memorial needs, and to offer his loved ones some comfort during a season that should be filled with warmth and togetherness.
