Comfort for the Conley Family

Donation protected
Some of you know my cousins, Kurt and Ashley, and the events that life has thrown their way this week. Ashley had to be induced suddenly with their 4th child after finding out she has a form of leukemia that needs to be treated immediately.

Last week Ashley started noticing all kinds of bruises on her body. She messaged her OB and asked for bloodwork for her upcoming appointment. She added a complete CBC among other things.
This weekend Ashley noticed her gums bleeding and was having bloody noses all week. Ashley got a call at 7am from her OB telling her to head to Evanston hospital to the high risk L&D. She had just gotten off the phone with hematology and he was concerned Ashley had a super rare blood disorder. Her husband, Kurt, came home from work and took Ashley immediately to the doctor. Ashley's mom, who lives out of state, immediately left Michigan to come help watch Kurt and Ashley's three sons.

Within about an hour of being admitted Ashley was told she has acute promyelocytic leukemia. The prognosis is good, up to a 90% recovery rate but time is of the essence. They need to start treatment right away. Being 33 weeks pregnant she already started one chemo drug that was safe for the baby. She had a bone marrow biopsy within 2 hours of being admitted and a picc line placed. Ashley was induced Wednesday and gave birth to a precious and healthy baby girl late afternoon.

Baby Harlow will be in the NICU while Ashley remains in the hospital. Doctors predict they will both be in the hospital over a month since the chemo treatment is dangerous to Ashley's risk of bleeding. She will need to be closely monitored.

They are trying to stay strong for their boys, but know this is going to be extremely challenging over the next several months. Ashley credits baby Harlow for saving her life because if she weren’t pregnant, she would have put off getting this medical concern checked out. The family has a long road ahead full of medical bills, juggling Healthcare, and childcare, lots of take out and meals apart. We want to help support them in any way we can , please consider donating.
