As many may know, my father has been suffering with liver problems for the last two years and an untreatable cellulitis in his legs for even longer than that. He has spent the last two years in incredible pain. In March, there was a mass found on his liver that was diagnosed as acute hepatocellular carcinoma. Now in May, the tumor has been examined to have doubled in size. He was given a 3-6 month prognosis due to the tumor's aggressiveness.
He was being treated for a septic infection from his leg wounds and cellulitis, but the infection was not responding to the antibiotics.
Ultimately, this decision has been one that has been the hardest. His doctor has recommended that comfort care would be the best action— considering my dad is in a lot of pain, hardly eating & drinking, hardly able to speak much, and sleeping excessively. As we make my father comfortable, we have made some arrangements, with my father's word, to be laid to rest with his nephews and father. My dad had an incredibly special relationship with my cousins, Michael and Damian and misses them terribly.
Unfortunately, My father does not have a life insurance policy and we are needing all of the help we can get. Many may know I am his only daughter and much of my family has already gone.
Please don't feel pressured to donate; Anything will help. If it's possible, what money is not used will be refunded back to those who helped. If there isn't a way to refund it back, I will donate the rest to the American Association for Study of Liver Diseases Foundation.
Thank you.
