My grandma, Mamá Tita, was recently diagnosed with an incurable form of liver cancer.

On Monday, November 3, we rushed my grandma to the hospital and doctors discovered she was suffering from a dangerously high calcium level of 16.5, double what it should be. Doctors have been treating her to lower the calcium level and it's gone down as low as 11.9 but the latest exam shows it increased to 12.5. The normal range is between 8-10.

Worst of all, an MRI showed a 7.5cm tumor on her liver consistent with hepatocellular carcinoma with suspected tumor thrombus. As a result of this finding, she was diagnosed with liver cancer. Doctors believe the liver cancer is playing a big role in her calcium not going down to normal levels. As of this writing, she's still in the hospital receiving care, but the high calcium level continues to make her confused, disoriented, and unable to physically move by herself. It's unknown when she'll be able to be safely discharged.

Three oncologists have seen her while hospitalized and they all believe her cancer isn't treatable and that the best thing we can do is make her comfortable. They disagree on how long she has, but it isn't long

We've created this GoFundMe to ease the financial burden this hospitalization, unexpected cancer diagnosis, and prognosis has caused our family so that we can focus on spending time with my grandma as she nears the end of her life.
