Comeback for Local Business Dan's Carpet & Blinds
Donation protected
A natural disaster is nothing less than devastating. It affects our homes, businesses, and communities. However, it is how we react and come back from such devastation that measures our true strength. On the night of Wednesday, September 1st, the town of Mamaroneck, New York was hard-hit by Hurricane Ida which left the community, along with many local businesses, completely destroyed. My store, Dan’s Carpet and Blinds, a third-generation family business since 1962, was among those that suffered tremendous devastation. The floodwaters from Ida consumed the entirety of the basement and reached heights of six feet on the main level leaving the floors and walls unsalvageable, front window shattered, flooring inventory destroyed, technology irreparable, and customer records saturated. While the destruction and devastation from Ida is widespread, the support from the local community along with numerous volunteers has been even more so. It is in these times of hardship that generosity from family, friends, and even strangers is all the more heartwarming. Although we anticipated relying on flood insurance, the damage was far beyond what could be covered. Therefore, whether physically lending a hand or monetarily donating funds, please join us in our mission to rebuild local business, Dan’s Carpet and Blinds.
Special thanks to the Fuller Center, especially Jim Killoran and Steve Biolsi, Harvest Time Church, as well as family, friends, and volunteers for the immense support and generosity!
