After losing both my parents to cancer, I set out to climb Kilimanjaro in 2022 to overcome my grief and show cancer who is boss. The journey was meant to be a tribute to their memory and a way to reclaim my strength. I was found on GoFundMe by GrapeNuts Post Cereal, who generously sponsored my climb. But just as I was preparing for the adventure, life took an unexpected turn—I was diagnosed with breast cancer myself. Suddenly, the climb became much more personal and challenging. Three weeks after my first lumpectomy, I attempted the summit but fell short.
Since then, my journey has been marked by resilience and hope. I underwent a double mastectomy, chemotherapy, lost my hair, and faced radiation. Despite these hardships, I discovered a school at the base of Kilimanjaro and created a nonprofit to support its growth. For the past three years, I have returned to bring people and supplies, helping the school and its students thrive. Now, in July 2027, I am ready for my comeback climb. This time, I am determined to conquer the mountain and continue making a difference for the school.
Donations to this fundraiser will help me fund the climb, travel, gear, and bring much-needed supplies to the school. Your support will not only help me overcome the physical and emotional challenges of my cancer journey, but also bring hope and opportunity to the students at Kilimanjaro's base. I am asking for your generosity to help me complete this comeback climb and continue making a positive impact. Together, we can show cancer who is boss and lift up a community in need.
