Come Together for Cameron Smith, a public-school teacher battling cancer

Dear Friends,

Please join us in coming together to support our favorite 4th grade teacher, animal lover, art enthusiast, and Clemson and College of Charleston alumna, Cameron Smith! This incredible 28-year-old Carolina Park elementary school teacher has spent the last five years inspiring young minds and spreading kindness in and outside of the classroom each day, but now she’s the one who needs our help.

After months of medical tests, scans, appointments, and procedures, Cameron was diagnosed with Stage 4A Hodgkin’s lymphoma a few weeks ago. While this news is devastating, we’re grateful that she now has a clear diagnosis, a treatment plan, and an amazing medical team by her side. Cameron is facing six months of chemotherapy—12 sessions total—with incredible strength and determination, but the journey ahead is going to be challenging, especially since she will be on a six-month unpaid leave (under the Family and Medical Leave Act.)

For anyone who knows Cameron, she’s always the first to bring warmth, creativity, and care to others, whether it’s her students, her friends, her loved ones, or the animals she adores. Now, it’s our turn to rally around her as she focuses on her health and healing. Chemo, medical bills, and daily living expenses add up quickly, especially when you’re balancing treatment and recovery. While Cameron’s focus is on beating cancer, we want to do everything we can to ease the financial burden and help her feel supported every step of the way.
