Come To The Aid Of An Animal Rescuer
Donation protected
My name is Alexis Christine. I care about the welfare of animals — a lot. Especially cats. I was constantly brokenhearted by their circumstances until I became dear friends with Anna-Maria. I used to watch her rescue efforts from afar as she ran animal welfare organizations in other states. It seemed like wonderful work to do but daunting. I thought the problem was so big that I could never make a difference. Then, Anna-Maria came home to spend time with her father, who was dying. Finally living near each other we became close friends and I learned from her what it really takes to care for and advocate for the unwanted, and since then I have learned how to advocate for animals as well.
She was running an organization for children in foster care and no longer had a non-profit for animals. She set up a makeshift “farm” for her rescue animals and took excellent care of them while working overtime to advocate for children. Even though she did not have a rescue anymore, they just kept coming, even local rescues turned to her for their toughest cases and she accepted them with open arms. No matter what her life looks like, she keeps helping them. I have seen hundred of animals come through her home. Anna-Maria takes them in, loves and rehabilitates them, and finds them forever homes. It cannot be overstated how time consuming and exhausting this work is, I have seen it with my own eyes. She has made a stunning impact in the lives of so many animals, especially the animals no one else will take.
Anna-Maria recently became very ill and nearly lost her life. She was hospitalized and missed weeks of pay, progress on her farm projects, and precious time she needed for her current job search. Because she has invested her life in the lives and well-being of other people and animals, I am asking us to invest in her to ensure that she can pay her hospital bills, complete the modifications necessary for the safety and well-being of the animals, get assistance with animal care for a short time so she can land a job in animal welfare, and can continue rehoming animals without the extraordinary financial burden of the costs and bills that have added up during her hospitalization and recovery.
I want to raise $11,000 for the following (amounts may change if services are donated):
Pen to isolate sick animals from healthy ones
Lighting for Anna-Maria to see during nighttime farm chores
Security cameras to observe animals while at work and to ensure her safety and the safety of the animals
Earthwork around the barn to keep it from flooding every time it rains
Installation of solid walls around the makeshift stalls - to keep animals warm and safe during long Kansas winters
Food, supplies, medicines, litter for indoor and outdoor animals (Anna-Maria spends over $1,000/month on these)
Assistance with her climbing medical bills
Assistance for three months with basic animal chores to free up time to job search and get the farm ready for winter
Animal habitat repairs
The farm has many other needs, but these are the most urgent. All of this will add up to much more than $11,000 but this amount will make a huge impact in helping Anna-Maria catch up after her medical crisis. In addition to monetary donations, assistance finding homes for adoptable animals that she has rehabilitated, volunteer help with farm projects, and sharing this fundraiser would all make such a difference in the life of Anna-Maria and the deserving animals she looks after. Please message me if you're interested in helping with any of the volunteer projects, including our rehoming mission.
So many lives have been saved because she has devoted much of her life to doing the work it takes. She always says “yes” to helping others and I am hoping you will join me in saying “yes" to helping Anna-Maria and the animals she cares for. The world is a better place when people help. None of us can do it alone.
