Hi, we are parents of a local science team. We are fundraising to support them.

For the past 38 years, Science Olympiad has revolutionized science education. What began as a grassroots assembly of science teachers is now one of the premier science competitions in the nation, providing rigorous challenges to 7,600 teams in all 50 states. Science Olympiad’s ever-changing lineup of events in all STEM disciplines exposes students to practicing scientists and career choices while energizing classroom teachers with a dynamic content experience. Our club is one of the most popular extracurricular activities, with a membership of nearly 100 students.

During the beginning of 2023, our team maintained the now 12-year win streak at the regional competition. In March, we made school history by winning the New York State Tournament, qualifying us for the national tournament in Kansas for the first time since 1986. There, we competed against 59 high-caliber teams from across the country in various science-related events, earning 5 top five placements, including 2 gold medals. We placed 12th overall and received the Corteva Enterprise Award, an impressive honor given to the school with a meteoric rise to success. In order to achieve this historic victory, our team members dedicated so much time to studying, building, and experimenting during the school year. Our goal for the upcoming season is to make nationals once again and break into the top 10. For our club members to gain more practice to achieve this feat, we will be attending several invitationals at universities such as MIT, Cornell, UC Berkeley, and UT Austin.

Although we are well known for our academic achievements, this club is so much more than that – it is a family. This past school year, we made so many memories, from spending long hours after school to having late-night study sessions. Through these experiences, our bond in this club has grown incredibly strong. Together with all its members, this club has established a fun and comfortable atmosphere for everyone to enjoy while allowing its members to create so many special moments.

However, in order to sustain and nurture this remarkable success, we need support from families and organizations that are willing to assist in funding our expensive competition costs, including materials for builds and experimental events. Your help will allow all of our club members to participate regardless of financial difficulties. We aim to compete in a plethora of invitationals and accomplish our objective of placing in the top 10 at the national tournament, so your contribution would help alleviate some of the financial burdens for future competitions and endeavors.
