Come Out! In Detroit

“There was a 1972 Detroit Pride?”
Indeed, there was! It was called Christopher Street Detroit ’72, the first-ever Pride celebration in Detroit, and it was the start of annual pride events in Michigan ever since. Sadly, it has been nearly forgotten.
Freelance illustrator Isabel Clare Paul and historian Tim Retzloff are creating a 32-page full-color non-fiction comic book to tell the story of Christopher Street Detroit ’72 in time for its 50th anniversary next summer.
We need to raise matching funds to help print 20,000 copies for free distribution. LGBT Detroit is graciously serving as our non-profit financial sponsor.
Your contribution will help pay for printing, storage, promotion, and delivery of the comic book. It will be distributed at Pride events, community centers, libraries, bookstores, and bars, with a special early release at selected comic book stores for Free Comic Book Day.
