On April 9th, 2021, Adelaido Romero was admitted to the hospital with Covid-19 and pneumonia. He was put on a ventilator and eventually transferred to UNC on April 21st. There, he was put on an ECMO machine which is used to support critically ill patients with Covid-19 pneumonia for whom ventilation is insufficient to sustain blood oxygen level. It works by temporarily drawing blood from the body to allow artificial oxygenation of the red blood cells and removal of carbon dioxide with this machine. Recently, he was able to leave the Covid unit but is still in the hospital with severe damage to his lungs. He is currently still on the ventilator and ECMO machine.

Adelaido is a dedicated husband to Reina and father to Stephanie and Frankie. As the primary income for the family of four, he has not been able to work for some time and has a long recovery ahead of him. As you can imagine, this has been an extremely stressful time for the entire Romero family and they need our help to make this situation a little easier.
