Come Alongside Corey

Father of four and a grandfather, Corey Green is a hardworking man, who takes pride in caring for his children.
His ability to work and care for his family were taken from him this summer. On June 28, Corey was struck by two bullets in a drive-by shooting. The perpetrators have not yet been captured. One bullet traveled up his leg, another into his spine. Thankfully, he was not paralyzed by the initial wounds. But his treatment and recovery are ongoing.
His first hospitalization was just days long. But soon after his discharge, his employer fired him because he was unable to work. He has no income, and will no longer have the health insurance provided by his employer.
Corey has had one surgery, and may require further procedures. After his initial surgery and discharge, he developed an internal infection. He was readmitted to the hospital after a follow up visit with his physicians. He has spent nearly a month in the hospital. During this time, his bowels and kidneys began to shut down. His recovery has been slow and painful, and it continues.
In the midst of all this, Corey's mother, Ida, has spent countless hours at the hospital, and is helping to care for his teen daughter, who just started her first year of high school.
The family is seeking help to cover Corey's medical and living expenses. Even with insurance, the hospital stay costs thousands of dollars per day. The cost is now rising with the loss of health insurance. We look forward to Corey's return home, which will require in-patient or home health care to assist with wound care and occupational therapy and physical therapy.
Other ways to help include needs for the children, general bills, and transportation.
Please come alongside Corey and his family to help them through this time of need and recovery. Their need is immediate and ongoing.
Thank you for your partnership and prayers.
