Come alongside Aubrie in a Healing pas de deux
Donation protected
Aubrie has learned her grace and sensitivity from those lovely parents of hers, and it's tough for anyone to ask for support.... So that's where I'm coming in (whether they like it or not). As a long-time friend of the family & a hospital warrior myself, I'm going to lend my voice to the cause. By now, many of you are familiar with Aubrie's journey; I'll post one of Josh & Katie's updates below.... what they aren't letting you know is the financial aspect of this unexpected resort stay at Children's. They are beyond grateful for how many have stepped up, the team of doctors they have around them, and the circle of friends pouring out love... truly Katie has been gushing from all the kindness received. I have had an impulse throughout Aubrie's journey to help out, and was unsure how to direct it. Perhaps there are others with a similar desire and hope. So, the idea is surrounding them with a financial foundation to pay off the deductible. There will be continued financial sacrifices with missed work while Aubrie heals (i.e. PT appts, follow-ups, medications, plus likely a few more hospital days here). Relieving this burden will free up resources for the recovery process, helping them breathe a little easier and hold healing space for Miss Aubrie. Let's partner with the Sutherlands and get that girl back, pirouetting her way across the stage of life.
Here was the initial Medical update from Katie last week:
(there has been more recent updates, including a PICU stay due to fluid in lungs, moments of no fever, only to have a fever again, as of now Aubrie is likely there for a few more days... please see Josh or Katie's Instagram or FB for further updates. @jcsutherland64)
"Hiya-
She had a high fever and some hip pain all week last week.
On Friday we took her into a family physician, which left us scratching our heads. No answers and still, a fever and a concerning inability to even walk.
On Saturday, she went to dance to watch practice, and I brought her home from the studio early with muscle spasms and extreme pain. I carried her to the car- her fever and resting pulse skyrocketed once home.
We arrived at Children and they immediately identified a connection to her hip pain and fever as a common joint infection- happens in kids. (MSK infection)
Within the next few hours:
MRI, ultrasound, all the blood tests, transfer from St. Paul to MSP and finally surgery at 10:00am Sunday, a drain port remains in her hip to drain the infection while taking target antibiotics.
Aubrie’s infection will require days of hospitalization and weeks of monitoring. She is more stable, but not out of critical care efforts including some concerns regarding her respiratory system and risk of clotting. She is not stable yet, but we are in very good hands."
