Combat Veterans Family Needs Help

I am one of 134 members of B Company, 160th Infantry (40th Infantry Division), California Army National Guard. We lost a member of our unit, and dear friend (Sergeant Mark Aaron Peña - age 42). Mark passed away on March 5, 2024 after a short hospital stay. Mark suffered cardiac arrest and was placed on life support which ultimately led to the failure of his vital organs.

Mark proudly served our country in the US Army and deployed twice to Iraq serving in both Operation Iraqi Freedom 1 & 2. He served with the 101st Airborne Division, and with the California Army National Guard (40th Infantry Division) which was attached to the 1st Cavalry Division during the deployment. Mark was an exceptional soldier that not only did his duty every day, but did so in a manner that uplifted everyone around him.

Mark leaves behind Valerie (his high school sweetheart, soulmate, and wife of 22 years) and his incredible 16-year-old daughter Ava.

All donations will be used to assist Valerie and Ava during their transition to a new life without Mark and the monthly income he provided. The family needs financial assistance until such time that they can get his affairs in order, and figure out their next steps.

Your support would be greatly appreciated! Our only wish to help provide a bit of assistance to this great American, and his amazing family, all of whom have sacrifice for this nation. Thanks!
