Colton’s Road to Recovery
Our son, Colton, was recently involved in a tragic accident while practicing with a compound bow and arrows. Unfortunately, an accident occurred, and Colton was struck by an arrow that entered at the corner of his right eye.
By the grace of God, the arrow did not damage his eyeball or orbital bone. However, the situation was still extremely serious. He underwent emergency surgery, including a partial craniotomy, to safely remove the arrow. It came within millimeters of his carotid artery and cerebral cortex, injuries that would have been life-threatening, but both were miraculously unharmed. By God’s grace, Colton has been spared any serious neurological damage. His greatest challenges moving forward will involve his vision and ongoing endocrinological concerns. While we are incredibly grateful for the progress he has made so far, he continues to face ongoing challenges and will require continued support in the days, months, and years ahead.
Colton is currently receiving care in the ICU at CHKD, where he is being closely monitored by a team of specialists. He is showing strength, faith, love, humor and most importantly resilience each day, even as he works through pain, fatigue, and uncertainty. There are still many unknowns as his body heals, and his recovery will take time.
As his family, our focus is, and will always be, on surrounding Colton with love, strength, faith and unwavering support. We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support that has surrounded our family during this time. We are truly thankful for the generosity shown to both sides of our family, including the donations that have already been provided to help support Colton’s care. Every kind gesture, encouraging word, and heartfelt prayer has meant more to us than we can fully express. Witnessing how much Colton is loved and supported has touched us in ways we will never forget, and we are profoundly thankful.
How Donations Will Help
We want to be very clear: all funds raised will go directly toward unforeseen medical expenses and any specialized equipment or care Colton may need in the future. This includes ongoing treatments, therapies, follow-up care, and any additional support that may arise as we navigate his recovery. As his family, our focus is, and will always be, on surrounding Colton with love, strength, faith and unwavering support. We are committed to doing everything possible to ensure he has access to the care, resources, and opportunities he needs to heal and thrive.
