Colton Cobbs Medical Expenses

Welcome to Colton'S Gofundme:
If you are here, it is because you love Colton, and we want to thank you for that. Colton was a passenger in a car accident on August 8, 2023. He broke his C6 and C7 vertebrae, sternum, lower back, clavicle, and has multiple skull fractures along with other lacerations and injuries. A high volume of medical bills is anticipated as this will be a long road to recovery. The family will also be receiving lower income due to having to take off work to be with Colton in the hospital.
We appreciate your financial support, but more than anything else, we covet your fervent prayers to our good Father on Colton and our behalf.
Love you all.
UPDATE: 10/2/23
We are nearing the 2-month mark since the accident. Colton is now at TIRR Memorial Hermann for rehab where he receives speech, physical, and occupational therapy each day. The surgery to remove the wires which currently keep his jaw from moving has been postponed for another 2-3 weeks, which also means that his tracheotomy removal won’t happen until after that. However, he is off oxygen and has been breathing well with the cap on his trach.
Colton will likely be discharged sometime in November which means many changes need to happen to the Cobbs home to accommodate Colton since he is still paralyzed from the chest down and has very limited use of his fingers. Insurance should cover the power chair, his bed, the lift, and some other things; but at this time, help will be needed to fund:
-a wheelchair accessible van with lift (80K-90K)
-remodeling the downstairs bedroom and bathroom (70K-80K)
-medical bills (these are rolling in each day)
-house bills (Titia is unable to work due to caring for Colton)
Although we are still praying for miraculous healing, preparations need to be made if his current state remains the same. Thank you for your prayers, support, and love!
UPDATE: 9/5/23
It has been 4 weeks since Colton’s accident and much has happened. It took two surgeries to properly repair his cervical vertebral fractures, he’s had a tracheostomy procedure, and his fractured jaw also required surgery. Although Colton’s mouth is currently wired shut due to the surgery on his jaw (it will be this way for another 4 weeks or so), he is finally able to talk when the speaking valve is inserted in his trach.
He has had lots of ups and downs concerning his breathing with and without the ventilator, but we are praying he can be stable enough to breathe on his own soon so that he can eventually get the trach out.
Doctors have said that he could be paralyzed from the chest down for life, but we believe in a big God whose word is bigger than man’s. God has already given Colton hope by letting him feel some slight sensations in his feet!
Colton is still in ICU but will hopefully move to TIRR soon for rehab. Colton’s journey will be a long one, so any donations are truly appreciated!
