Hi, my name is Shelby. I have a fiancé named John and we have two girls. I’m currently pregnant with our sweet son Colton. Everything up until lately with this pregnancy has gone wonderful. On June 15, 2023 my water broke around 4pm at work. At that point I was only 28w4d pregnant. You can imagine the immediate scare of something like this happening and knowing it’s way too early. As this isn’t my first rodeo I wondered, how fast would he come? Do I have time? Since our county doesn’t have any hospitals with an OB department, especially high risk. I needed to get to Cleveland right away.

After arriving and being assessed we found out that I had not dilated yet but was 50% effaced. Since my water broke so early causes so many risks and possible infections the best plan is to keep me here until Colton comes. They are monitoring him closely, giving steroids for his lungs, antibiotics, routine ultra sounds and meeting every need we could think of. The goal is to try to keep him cooking until 34 weeks. If he does plan to not come before then by 34 weeks they will start labor. The Doctors told me there’s a 50/50 chance of me going into labor within the week or he may wait a little longer. We truly hope he takes his time and we both remain healthy for as long as possible. He will be premature and the hospital stay after delivery extended as well.

We had not financially planned for me being off work for so long, on top of the other expenses that come with long hospital stays. We really appreciate any help and prayers.
