My dear friend Coltina has been bravely fighting ductal breast cancer, a diagnosis that turned her world — and her family’s — completely upside down. Over the past several months, she has endured intense chemotherapy, followed by targeted chemo treatments that are ongoing until the new year. She recently underwent a lumpectomy surgery. She is now waiting on the next steps in her treatment plan, including her upcoming radiation therapy.

Throughout this exhausting journey, Coltina has shown incredible strength and resilience. But the reality of cancer is that it impacts far more than health alone — it affects work, finances, childcare, and daily life in ways most people never see.

As a small business owner, Coltina doesn’t have paid medical leave or employment benefits. Every treatment, every recovery day, and every appointment means time away from her business, resulting in a significant loss of income. And with more treatment and recovery time ahead, the financial pressure continues to grow.
