Colt- The Tri-Pod Pup

Donation protected
My co-worker, Jess, brought home sweet little Colt on March 15, 2019 for her 3 children. The whole family immediately fell madly in love with this sweet little golden doodle. Unfortunately for Colt (and his family), within the first week his mom found out that Colt was a special pup.

At 3 months old, Colt started limping. Jess took him back to the Vet, where they took an X-Ray that came back as nothing and was sent home. Shortly after, Colt was back at the vets again. This time it was due to a large cyst under his shoulder blade. He had surgery to remove the cyst and was sent on his way.  After being home for a couple weeks, he developed an infection. This is when they found out he needed to have his front leg amputated, as it was determined that the bone infection ate away his growth plate.

Last week Colt went in for his big surgery, he stayed the night then went home the next day. Over the weekend he started to retain a lot of fluid, so much so that his belly turned purple, which resulted in an emergency visit to the vet. This morning when Jess woke up, the site where they had to drain the fluid, leaked a massive amount of blood all over. Once again, she had to rush him back to the vet, where the doctor to had re-close and re-bandage the wound.

Colt is currently home and trying to heal with a long road ahead of him as a Tri-pod pup. The future concerns is his other front leg, which is currently bearing all his weight. Colt is not even 5 months old and as he continues to grow, the weight is going to be extremely heavy on his good leg. Colt is estimated to be at least 80 lbs, with a current weight of 35 lbs. His mom is working on getting him a dog life vest and small pool for physical therapy to help with that strain and mental health of wanting to exercise more than his body can take on land. He may also need a brace for his remaining front leg and as of now he still has staples.

Jess and her husband are both extremely hard workers. They just bought a house about 2 hours south of town (where they both work) so they can afford to give their family a wonder life. I am hoping to help raise money to help Jess pay for Colt's his current vet bills and future rehab.  Colt is so young and deserves such a wonderful life but has been dealt this hand. Jess calls colt her "old soul" who brings so much love to Jess and her family that she wants to do anything possible to try to improve his life. Any donation, no matter how small, will be greatly appreciated.
