About ColorBomb Ultimate
ColorBomb is thrilled to announce our return for the 2024 club season! We are a high-level, mixed-gender Ultimate frisbee team based in Philadelphia. Our mission is to prioritize and celebrate Black and Brown players, Trans and Queer athletes, and anyone else who doesn’t always fit in. In our past seasons, ColorBomb achieved remarkable success, breaking our seed ranking at Sectionals and earning our spot at Regionals two years running.
Ultimate frisbee is more than just a sport. It's a way to build community, foster personal growth, and promote physical and mental well-being. For many, it provides a sense of belonging and a platform for social change. At ColorBomb, we strive to cultivate an environment that emphasizes these impacts, ensuring that every individual feels distinctly valued and empowered, both within in our sport and beyond.
Why We Need Your Help
Our fundraising goal is $8,500. For most club teams, the financial burden on individual players often exceeds $500 each summer: covering team dues, jerseys, meals, transport, and lodging. By reaching our goal, we aim to reduce this financial burden to less than $100 per player. With over 85% of our roster being QTBIPOC and 50% 22 years or under, reducing these costs is crucial to ensuring that young, passionate players can participate without financial strain. Your support will directly enable ColorBomb's vibrant and inclusive community, making competitive Mixed Club Ultimate more accessible for marginalized players.
The Impact of Your Donation
Your donation will have a profound impact on our team and the broader Ultimate community. Here's how your support will be used:
- Minimizing Player Costs: Your donation helps cover essential costs like jerseys, travel, tournament fees, food, and equipment. If we hit our goal, each ColorBomb player will save nearly $500 in expenses, making participation accessible to BIPOC & LGBTQ+ athletes regardless of their financial situation.
- Coaching and Trainer Expertise: Funding allows us to benefit from dedicated coaches and skilled athletic trainers, ensuring our players receive high-quality instruction and support, which is crucial for peak performance, social-emotional growth, and injury prevention.
- Summer Community Days: We organize community days featuring games, water ice, and food, bringing together nearly 100 people. These events connect people from across the Philadelphia area and foster a sense of belonging within our diverse community.
- PADA’s PHLY Day Camper Sponsorship: We volunteer as a team to teach youth at the Philadelphia Area Disc Alliance (PADA) day camp, promoting the sport and its values to the next generation.
One Player’s Story
“Ultimate has always been a way for me to channel my energy and socialize. When I joined ColorBomb, I found a community that cared about justice and was invested in treating everyone with respect and empathy. On ColorBomb, I felt held and supported by people who understood my experiences and were committed to inclusivity. It showed me that I could compete in the sport I love while being fully accepted and encouraged to succeed in all parts of my life.”
