Relief Fund for Amanda and Roger
Donation protected
We wanted to create this fundraiser to help take some worry off the plate of our daughter and her partner, Roger, who are in the midst of dealing with the Colorado Wildfires. As the Cameron Peak wildfire approached their 12 acres on Storm Mountain, and also Glen Haven which is where they are renting a home, they were forced to evacuate to a Red Cross hotel in Johnstown. When cabins opened up at the YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park for evacuees, they moved there. As most of you may have seen, Estes Park was then evacuated due to the Troublesome wildfire that is ravaging RMNP.
Amanda loves animals and therefore had many from a lizard, to rabbits, ducks, a goose, a cat and a dog. Many of these were in a barn on their property at Storm Mountain and they were unable to get to them after they were given one hour to evacuate. With the help of the Humane Society who was let through, and found their property on their own, the animals were rescued and are safe and being taken care of. We have so much gratitude for the Humane Society as well as the Red Cross who have been there helping since the beginning. After the mandatory evacuations to Estes Park, they were unable to get back to the cabin where three of their pets remain. At this point, they literally only have the clothes on their backs and have headed back to the hotel in Johnstown thanks to the Red Cross.
Prior to all of this, and due to Covid, Roger lost his job and has been on unemployment. They have said through all of this that they have become so much closer, they are so thankful to the blessing of seeing complete strangers come together and reaching out to each other during this uncertain time. Amanda told me she wants to do something after all of this to thank the Red Cross and the Humane Society in some way. She has been so impressed by the response. Also, the firefighters who are working tirelessly everyday and night even today to protect everyone and everything that is in the path of these horrendous fires. At this moment we don't know exactly what the impact has been on their property. This fundraiser is to help with immediate needs and expenses and to perhaps alleviate some of the uncertainty for the future.
